The scientific development of SimHerd has been documented in over 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers (Clasen et al. 2024, Animal, 18,2, 101051. Østergaard et al. 2005, JDS, 88, 12, 4243-4257) For this specific Nedap application, a tailored version of SimHerd was created that captures the relevant parts of the model regarding heat detection and disease incidence. Simulations with SimHerd or any tailored version of SimHerd should however not be considered as certain predictions for the future. The model gives us a technical and economic quantification of the assumed effects of an intervention (a technology, a vaccine or an action plan).
